Below are some common areas people may seek to explore in therapy and which I have helped clients navigate:
- Personal development/discovery (or re-discovery) (e.g. exploring needs, values, boundaries, self-esteem, sense of identity)
- Transitions and major life decisions
- Issues related to experiences of gender, sexual, relationship and/or neuro-diversity (e.g. exploring wanting/not wanting children; navigating open relationships; questioning neurodivergence/navigating discovery)
- LGBTQ+ identity and experience
- Experiences of discrimination and othering, e.g. racism, homo/bi/transphobia
- Traumas and ‘inner child’ wounds (e.g. abuse, bullying, shame, neglect, parental alcohol misuse)
- Family and relationship dynamics, conflicts, estrangements
- Grief and loss, including pet bereavement
- Anxiety, stress and burnout
- Depression and low mood
- Relationship with creativity, spirituality, joy, meaning
Whatever you are coming in with, my primary aim will be to meet you first and foremost as a fellow human being, not a diagnosis or set of problems to be ‘fixed.’ Let’s be curious about who you are and who you might yet become.
There are certain issues and client cohorts where another professional with specific training/experience in the area will be preferable to ensure you get the most tailored support – this would include where your primary reason for seeking help is:
- An active addiction/recovery issue
- An active eating disorder issue
- A specific psychosexual issue, e.g. erectile dysfunction
I also don’t work with children, adolescents, or couples.
In such cases or otherwise where I am not the right fit, I will be happy to help signpost towards an alternative practitioner or organisation.
